Department: Hot Strip Mill (HSM) – Electrical & Automation (E&A) Designation: Assistant Engineer / Executive Engineer (AE/EE) Location: Plant Site Experience: 4–5 Years Industry: Steel Manufacturing (Hot Rolling Mill) Job Purpose To ensure reliable operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of Electrical & Automation systems in the Hot Strip Mill. The role involves maintaining Siemens PLC-based automation systems, field instrumentation, industrial communication networks, and process control equipment to maximize equipment availability and minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities Maintain and troubleshoot Siemens PLC -based automation systems. Diagnose and resolve faults in field instruments, including: Flow Meters Temperature Sensors Pressure Sensors Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of automation and instrumentation systems. Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot industrial communication networks, including: Ethernet Profibus Profinet Support commissioning, calibration, and testing of field instruments and automation systems. Analyze PLC logic, alarms, and process interlocks to ensure uninterrupted plant operations. Coordinate with production and maintenance teams during shutdowns and planned maintenance activities. Ensure proper documentation of PLC backups, network configurations, and maintenance records. Monitor equipment health and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability and process efficiency. Support implementation of automation upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with plant safety standards, electrical safety practices, and statutory regulations. Required Skills Technical Skills Hands-on experience with Siemens PLC (S7-300/400/1200/1500 preferred). Knowledge of Siemens automation software (STEP 7/TIA Portal preferred). Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation and calibration. Experience with Flow Meters, Temperature Sensors, and Pressure Sensors. Good knowledge of Ethernet, Profibus, and Profinet communication protocols. Ability to troubleshoot automation, instrumentation, and communication network issues. Knowledge of electrical drawings, loop diagrams, P&IDs, and control philosophies. Qualification B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation, Instrumentation Engineering, or related discipline. Experience 4–5 years of relevant experience in Electrical & Automation within a Hot Strip Mill (HSM) or other continuous process industries such as Steel, Metals, Cement, or Power.
