About the role
As a Senior Manager of Site Reliability Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Finance technology team aligned to Corporate Technology Division, you play a crucial role in guiding and shaping the future of technology at a globally recognized firm. You are the non-functional requirement owner and champion for the applications within your remit. Your strategic planning influences continual improvement in customer experience, resiliency, security, scalability, monitoring, instrumentation, and automation of software. You lead by example in a blameless, data-driven manner, handling difficult situations with composure and tact. Key Responsibilities: - Demonstrate expertise in site reliability principles and maintain a fine balance between features, efficiency, and stability. - Negotiate effectively with peers and executive partners to ensure optimal outcomes. - Drive the adoption of site reliability practices throughout the organization. - Ensure teams demonstrate site reliability best practices through stability and reliability metrics. - Cultivate a culture of continual improvement and solicit real-time feedback for enhancing customer experience. - Facilitate collaboration with other teams within your specialization to avoid duplication of work. - Follow blameless, data-driven, post-mortem strategies and conduct regular team debriefs for learning purposes. - Provide personalized coaching for entry to mid-level team members. - Encourage documentation and sharing of knowledge and innovations within internal forums and communities. - Focus on reducing manual toil for the team and prioritize fixes for stability and improving SLOs. Qualification Required: - Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 5 years of applied experience. - Advanced proficiency in site reliability culture and principles with the ability to implement them across application and platform teams. - Experience in leading technologists to manage and solve complex technological issues at a firmwide level. - Ability to influence the team's culture by championing innovation and change. - Experience in hiring, developing, and recognizing talent. - Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java Spring Boot, .Net). - Proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile). - Proficiency in continuous integration and continuous delivery tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Terraform). - Experience in building Observability platforms using OTEL, Dynatrace, Cloudwatch, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus. - Experience with container and container orchestration (e.g., ECS, Kubernetes, Docker). The job prefers candidates with experience working in Big Data and cloud-based applications, particularly in AWS and S3, as well as experience in the Financial Domain.
