Assistant General Manager - Strategic Projects & TPL Department - Research & Development Business Unit - Khadki

As a Design Lead – Genset , you will lead the design and development of genset systems and critical components, ensuring high standards of performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost efficiency. You will be responsible for guiding the design team through concept development, 3D modeling, engineering validation, and production readiness for genset platforms and associated systems. The role involves overseeing the design of base frames, acoustic enclosures, cooling systems, fuel systems, exhaust layouts, and engine-alternator integration assemblies using CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA. You will drive engineering reviews, tolerance stack-up analysis, design validation activities, and collaboration with CAE teams for FEA/CFD analysis to ensure robust product performance. You will play a key role in strategic product development by driving VA/VE initiatives, design standardization, material optimization, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) . The position also requires close coordination with Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, Suppliers, and Production teams to ensure seamless product development and successful execution from prototype to mass production. Additionally, you will mentor and support junior engineers, manage project timelines, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, cost reduction, and engineering excellence. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Proven experience in genset, industrial equipment, or heavy engineering product design Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA Good understanding of fabrication, welding, sheet metal, machining, and manufacturing processes Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, and engineering validation methods Experience in l eading design projects and coordinating cross-functional teams Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
