About the role
The L1 Engineer will provide first-level operational support for a containerized OpenStack Private Cloud setting. The role focuses on infrastructure monitoring, incident triage, basic troubleshooting, service validation, and timely escalation to ensure platform availability and operational stability. Key Responsibilities Act as the first point of contact for cloud infrastructure incidents and service requests. Monitor the health and availability of OpenStack services, including Nova, Neutron, Keystone, Glance, Cinder, Horizon, and related infrastructure components. Monitor Docker containers deployed using Kolla-Ansible and identify failed or unhealthy services. Perform first-level Linux health checks, including CPU, memory, disk, filesystem, process, and service status verification. Validate virtual machine lifecycle operations such as instance creation, reboot, start/stop, deletion, and console access. Verify the availability of compute, storage, networking, and OpenStack API endpoints. Perform basic network connectivity validation using standard Linux networking tools. Collect logs from Docker containers and Linux hosts to support incident investigation and escalation. Create, update, and track incidents and service requests using ITSM tools while adhering to defined SLAs. Execute routine operational health checks and complete shift handover activities with accurate documentation. Escalate unresolved issues to L2/L3 teams with complete troubleshooting details and supporting logs. Technical Skills Mandatory Linux administration fundamentals Basic understanding of OpenStack architecture and core services Docker container fundamentals Monitoring using Grafana and Prometheus Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, SSH) Experience with ITSM tools such as JIRA or ServiceNow Basic log analysis and troubleshooting skills Valuable to Have Basic knowledge of Kolla-Ansible deployments Familiarity with OpenStack CLI Basic shell scri .
