Role Description As a Senior Data Engineer in a self-employed, consultant-style capacity, you will design, build, and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure to support clients analytical and operational needs. This part-time, remote role involves gathering requirements, modeling data, implementing ETL processes, and optimizing data warehouses for performance and scalability. You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals, translate them into technical solutions, and ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability. Daily tasks include developing and reviewing data models, writing and optimizing SQL and other data processing code, troubleshooting pipeline issues, documenting solutions, and advising on best practices for data architecture and governance. Qualifications Strong data engineering skills, including experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and data platforms.Proficiency in data modeling and data warehousing, with the ability to design scalable schemas and performant storage solutions.Hands-on experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes and tooling, including developing, scheduling, and monitoring ETL workflows.Applied data analytics skills, including querying, transforming, and validating data to support reporting and business insights.Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, Scala, or Java).Experience with cloud data platforms or services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar).Familiarity with version control, CI/CD practices, and data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, or equivalent).Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and collaborate remotely with diverse stakeholders.Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.Experience in consulting or freelance work, including scoping projects, estimating effort, and managing client expectations, is advantageous. .
