About the role
- Hardware Design Engineer Power ElectronicsOwn the design of high-current power and motor-drive electronics for ruggedised systems from schematic through layout, bring-up, debug, and compliance testing. Responsibilities Design of power stages and motor drive circuits: power device selection, gate drive, current sensing, and protection (overcurrent, overvoltage, thermal) Robust input power design for harsh electrical environments (surges, transients, reverse polarity) Worst-case circuit analysis, component derating, and reliability documentation Design for EMI/EMC compliance and environmental robustness per applicable defence/industrial standards Board bring-up, lab debug, and support of third-party compliance testing Hardware documentation: requirements, schematics, test plans, validation reports Must have 46 years designing power or motor-drive hardware that reached production or formal testing Demonstrable ownership of a power-stage design: component selection, protection design, and hands-on debug of at least one real failure Worst-case analysis and circuit simulation experience (SPICE-family tools) Strong lab skills: oscilloscope-driven debug of switching circuits, thermal and load testing Good to have EMI/EMC compliance experience (military or automotive standards) Motor control exposure (brushed DC, BLDC, or PMSM drives) PCB layout capability for high-current, mixed-signal boards 2. Embedded Digital Engineer FPGA & Control LogicDesign and verify FPGA-based control and sequencing logic for safety-relevant systems, with supporting embedded firmware on ARM Cortex-M class microcontrollers. Responsibilities RTL design (VHDL/Verilog) of control and sequencing logic with fail-safe behaviour Verification: testbenches, coverage, and fault-injection testing Digital interface design to sensors, drivers, and discrete I/O; sound clock-domain crossing practice Embedded C firmware on Cortex-M (bare-metal / RTOS): peripherals, communication interfaces, diagnostics Hardwarefirmware integration, bench validation, and formal documentation against written requirements Must have 46 years in FPGA/RTL design with at least one design taken through verification to working hardware Strong FSM design fundamentals: deterministic, glitch-free outputs; safe power-up and fault behaviour Embedded C on ARM Cortex-M (STM32 or similar) with real-time constraints Comfort reading schematics and debugging at board level (logic analyser, oscilloscope) Good to have Flash-based FPGA families (Microchip SmartFusion/IGLOO) or safety-critical digital design experience Experience working with legacy or sparsely documented electronics PWM generation, ADC interfacing, or other motor-control-adjacent digital design Common to both roles Work directly with the founding team; formal engineering rigour without corporate bureaucracy Full product lifecycle exposure from requirements to qualified, delivered hardware Willingness to travel to test facilities and partner sites .
