As a Principal Engineer - Data Science at LogiNext, your role will involve analyzing large amounts of raw information to identify patterns that can enhance our company's performance. You will be responsible for building data products to extract valuable business insights. To excel in this position, you should possess strong analytical skills, a passion for machine-learning, and proficiency in analysis, math, and statistics. Responsibilities: - Adapting and enhancing machine learning techniques based on physical intuition about the domain - Designing sampling methodology and preparing data, including data cleaning, univariate analysis, and missing value imputation - Identifying appropriate analytic and statistical methodology, developing predictive models, and documenting processes and results - Leading projects as a principal investigator and project manager to meet requirements on schedule and budget - Coordinating efforts to innovate by deriving insights from heterogeneous sets of data generated by the suite of Aerospace products - Supporting and mentoring data scientists - Maintaining and working with the data pipeline for transferring and processing terabytes of data using Spark, Scala, Python, Apache Kafka, Pig/Hive, and Impala - Collaborating with application teams/partners to understand their offerings and help them succeed with data by running controlled experiments - Applying data analysis, data mining, and data processing to present data clearly and develop experiments (A/B testing) - Working with the development team to build tools for data logging and automate data scientist duties Qualifications Required: - Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, or another technical field (PhD preferred) - 8 to 10 years of experience in data mining, data modeling, and reporting - 5+ years of experience working with large data sets or conducting large-scale quantitative analysis - Expertise in SQL scripting - Development experience in Scala, Java, Python, Perl, PHP, C++, or C# - Familiarity with Hadoop, Pig/Hive, Spark, and MapReduce - Ability to drive projects and a basic understanding of statistics including hypothesis testing, p-values, confidence intervals, regression, classification, and optimization - Proficiency in analysis techniques such as Exploratory Data Analysis and modeling concepts in machine learning - Strong algorithmic problem-solving skills - Experience manipulating large data sets through statistical software like R, SAS, or other methods - Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills - Experience in leading a team and experimentation design or A/B testing is preferred (Note: Additional details about the company were not present in the provided job description.)
