About the role
About the job: About Loyola Tutoring: Loyola Tutoring is one of Australia's largest independent tutoring providers. We run a distributed team across Australia and Asia. Today, too much of our operation runs on spreadsheets and manual work. We want to change that. The role: We have no technical staff. We need one person who can both build and advise, someone who looks at how we actually run enrollment, timetabling, class delivery, payroll coordination, and internal comms, then tells us where modern tech and AI can remove the most manual effort, fastest. Two streams of work: 1. Build a custom LMS: Admin, tutor, and parent/student portals covering enrollment, content and homework delivery, progress tracking, and reporting. 2. Automate our operations: A rolling program of automations that systemise the manual, repetitive work draining our team's time. We're not looking for someone who wants a finished spec handed to them. We're looking for someone who spots the opportunities, proposes the solution, and ships. Key Responsibilities: 1. Build and iterate the LMS to support scalable features such as multi-subject learning, auto-marking, and AI-assisted feedback. 2. Map manual workflows, automate high-friction processes, develop dashboards, and integrate AI/LLM APIs to improve operational efficiency. 3. Provide technical guidance by recommending tools, identifying risks, and explaining technical trade-offs in simple language. First 90 days: 1. Several quick-win automations shipped and already saving staff time. 2. Our first beta version of the LMS shipped. 3. You've become our go-to for 'can we automate this?' You'll be a fit if: 1. You have shipped web apps end-to-end (frontend, backend, database) on a modern stack, React/TypeScript, Node or similar, PostgreSQL. 2. Have real, shipped experience with AI/LLM APIs (Claude, OpenAI), examples, not just familiarity. Have used automation tooling (Make/Zapier, custom scripts, job queues) and integrated third-party APIs (email, payments, calendars). 3. Default to pragmatism over perfect architecture; you'd rather ship a working quick win this week than spend a month on the 'right' system. 4. Communicate clearly and asynchronously with a non-technical founder across time zones, and work autonomously. B. Bonus: 1. Built for education, membership, or scheduling-heavy businesses before. 2.
