Specialist - System Management

Key Responsibilities Provide L1L2 production support for PostgreSQL database environments including monitoring troubleshooting and incident resolution Perform routine DBA tasks backups restores patching upgrades replication management and capacity planning Monitor database health and performance using Grafana dashboards configure and finetune s to proactively catch issues before they impact production Investigate and resolve performance issues slow queries locking deadlocks index tuning query optimization Manage user access roles and permissions in line with security best practices Support high availability and disaster recovery setups streaming replication failover backuprestore strategy Participate in oncall rotation for production incident support Document runbooks standard operating procedures and troubleshooting guides Work with development teams on schema changes migrations and query reviews Assist in scaling initiatives including support for Citus distributed PostgreSQL environments where applicable Required Skills Experience - 3-6 years of handson experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in a production support environment Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture replication indexing and query performance tuning Experience with backup and recovery tools pgdump pgbasebackup WALbased backups or thirdparty tools like pgBackRestBarman Handson experience with Grafana and typically Prometheus or similar for database monitoring and ing Solid understanding of Linux systems administration as it relates to database operations Experience troubleshooting production incidents under time pressure Good understanding of SQL and the ability to reviewoptimize queries Good to Have - Experience with Citus distributed PostgreSQL extension for sharding and horizontal scaling Working knowledge of Python for writing automation scripts monitoring tools or maintenance utilities Exposure to cloudmanaged PostgreSQL services AWS RDSAurora Azure Database for PostgreSQL GCP Cloud SQL Familiarity with infrastructureascode tools Terraform Ansible Experience with connection pooling tools PgBouncer PgpoolII ITIL or incident management process familiarity What We'r Looking For - A proactive detailoriented problem solver who takes ownership of database reliability Strong communication skills to work across engineering infra and oncall teams Comfort working in a fastpaced support environment with shifting priorities Willingness to participate in oncallrotational shift support as needed Nice to Have - Soft Skills - Ability to write clear documentation and runbooks Collaborative mindset for crossfunctional troubleshooting Calm methodical approach during production incidents
