About the role
We are seeking an innovative & creative Internship student to join our team. At Lucent Drive, we focus on developing various energy solutions for power generation. This internship focuses on the numerical design, simulation, and preliminary optimization of Rotating Detonation Engines (RDEs) a next-generation propulsion concept offering higher thermal efficiency and specific impulse than conventional combustion systems. The project will begin with computational and analytical investigations and may extend to experimental validation if simulation results meet defined performance targets. Develop a for RDE combustion and flow dynamics using CFD tools. Responsibilities: Develop a numerical model for RDE combustion and flow dynamics using CFD tools. Perform performance optimization (geometry, fuel-oxidizer ratios, pressure ratio). Evaluate thermal and structural stresses under steady and transient operating conditions. Investigate integration potential of RDE technology into small-scale energy or propulsion systems. Transition successful simulations into an experimental proof-of-concept in a controlled lab setup. Requirements: Validated CFD models of RDE combustion and detonation behavior. Technical report and performance comparison with traditional combustors. Feasibility assessment for experimental validation. Potential publication or internal whitepaper if successful.
