As a Product Analyst / Associate Product Manager at Lumber, you will play a crucial role in supporting the evolution of Lumber's payroll product. Your primary focus will be on ensuring trust, accuracy, compliance, and excellent user experience in payroll workflows. Working directly with product leadership, engineering, design, and customer-facing teams, you will contribute to shipping improvements across payroll workflows and supporting platform capabilities. Key Responsibilities: - Join customer calls and internal feedback sessions to understand contractor payroll workflows - Map and document real-world payroll processes such as timesheets approvals, payroll run reporting - Identify pain points and opportunities in payroll workflows - Research competitor payroll products and industry trends - Write and refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and edge cases for payroll features - Maintain and update product documentation including briefs, workflows, PRDs, and release notes - Clarify requirements, address questions, and ensure follow-through with engineering - Track execution progress and ensure closure of action items - Assist with QA testing and validation for payroll flows, including edge cases - Ensure rollout readiness in terms of workflow correctness, usability, and compliance scenarios - Support internal enablement by providing clear documentation and release notes - Gather post-launch feedback and suggest iterative improvements - Track customer feedback, support tickets, and usage patterns related to payroll - Define and report on success metrics such as adoption, payroll completion rate, error rate, and time-to-run payroll - Propose improvements backed by evidence to address friction points Qualifications Required: - Minimum 1-2 years of experience in product management or related roles - Highly organized with strong follow-through - Possess a high work ethic and ownership mindset with a proactive approach - Curious and eager to learn about payroll and FinTech workflows - Strong communicator with the ability to write structured documentation - Analytical mindset to derive clear insights from complex workflows - Customer-oriented and willing to learn directly from users - Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities Experience That Helps (Not Required) - Interest in payroll, compliance, workforce management, or FinTech products - Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, Figma, Google Sheets - Bonus: Knowledge of SQL, analytics tools, or exposure to payroll systems/operations At Lumber, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful payroll product improvements, receive mentorship from experienced product leaders, gain exposure to real workflow discovery, and understand how product requirements translate into shipped features.
