Overview

Lutron has an immediate opening for a Senior Mechanical Designer at our Global Headquarters in Coopersburg, PA. In this position, you would be a key part of the Engineering team. A successful Mechanical Designer candidate will have a desire to work in a team environment on support of existing products and/or new product designs.

Responsibilities

  • Modeling of custom mechanical parts, assemblies, and tools in Creo

  • Perform hands-on tasks such prototype building and validation testing

  • Prototype and implement design tweaks to improve design quality and facilitate easier assembly

  • Source prototype components using our 3D printers, from our in-house machine shop or nearby vendors

  • Support documentation and part specification for existing and new products

  • Part verification and documentation of assembly tolerance stack analysis

  • Multi task at a high level; manage multiple projects and priorities in parallel

  • Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to gain consensus on part changes

Qualifications

Associates degree or Bachelors degree in Drafting, Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Architecture, or related field required Minimum cumulative 3.00 GPA required Minimum 2 years of experience with product design and development required Computer skills required: General (MS Word and Excel), Pro/E - Creo proficiency Advanced Excel skills are a plus.

Familiarity with project management processes and meeting customer order commitments preferred Familiarity and hands-on experience with various part manufacturing processes, such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, and aluminum and plastic extrusions preferred Lutron Electronics’ position as the worldwide leader in innovative lighting control and shading solutions has enabled consistent, annual growth.
