About the role
As a Frontend Engineer at EngageReel, you will be responsible for owning and evolving the EngageReel portal, focusing on browser-native video editing experiences for the next generation AI-powered video creation product. Your role will involve working on AI video generation UIs, browser-based video editing, custom video players, and handling video state transitions gracefully. Key Responsibilities: - Build AI video generation UIs, prompt interfaces, generation job tracking, result previews, and export flows - Implement browser-based video editing features such as timelines, layering, overlays, captions, scene editors, and scrubber controls - Develop custom video players supporting HLS adaptive streaming, MP4 playback, and real-time preview rendering - Create reusable media components like thumbnails, playback controls, progress indicators, and preview panels Qualifications Required: - 4+ years of frontend development experience, preferably in a product-based company - Strong proficiency in React.js with knowledge of functional components, hooks, and advanced patterns - Experience with Redux or Redux Toolkit for complex state management - Hands-on experience building media-heavy or data-intensive UIs, specifically editors, timelines, and preview systems - Solid understanding of browser video APIs including HLS, MP4, Media Source Extensions (MSE), Canvas rendering, Web APIs, and browser playback pipelines - Familiarity with implementing real-time UI updates via WebSockets or similar technologies - Strong grasp of frontend performance optimization for large renders and high-frequency updates - Proficiency in modern HTML, CSS, and CSS-in-JS solutions - Comfortable with Git workflows, collaborative development, and asynchronous communication Additional Company Details: EngageReel is focused on building the next generation of AI-powered video creation tools, specifically tailored for fashion e-commerce. The product aims to generate high-converting PDP videos, fashion ads, and creative variants at scale, allowing users to generate, edit, and publish professional-grade videos entirely in the browser powered by state-of-the-art AI inference pipelines. Note: Good to have experience with Remotion or similar video timeline/rendering libraries, familiarity with video analytics, prior work on AI-driven products, exposure to large-scale SaaS applications, basic understanding of backend systems, and open-source contributions or technical writing. Compensation offered for this position is 25-35 LPA + ESOPs. The selection process includes pre-call and technical screens with MantriAI, followed by frontend technical rounds with EngageReel and an in-office final round at the Gurgaon HQ before receiving the offer.
