About the role
As a Landscape Architect at Mata Amritanandamayi Math in Chengalpattu, Chennai, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the development of outdoor spaces, gardens, and green environments that align with the organization's aesthetic and functional vision. Key Responsibilities: - Design and develop landscape plans, including site layouts, planting schemes, and hardscape elements for institutional and campus environments - Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation using CAD and other design tools - Conduct site surveys, assessments, and feasibility studies to inform design decisions - Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of landscape design with overall project goals - Oversee the execution of landscape projects on-site, ensuring adherence to design intent, quality standards, and timelines - Select appropriate plant species, materials, and sustainable practices suited to the local climate and soil conditions - Prepare project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules for landscape development initiatives - Ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations, local building codes, and sustainability standards - Manage and mentor junior landscape staff or contractors as needed - Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, nurseries, and horticultural suppliers Requirements / Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related field - Between two and seven years of professional experience in landscape architecture or a related discipline - Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools - Strong understanding of horticulture, ecology, and sustainable landscaping practices - Experience working on institutional, campus, or large-scale landscape projects is preferred - Excellent communication and presentation skills for conveying design concepts to stakeholders - Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines - Knowledge of local plant species, climate conditions, and soil types in Tamil Nadu is an advantage - Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail - Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, mission-driven environment As a spiritual and humanitarian organization, Mata Amritanandamayi Math is dedicated to serving society through charitable, educational, and environmental initiatives.
