About the role
As a QA Engineer specializing in Network OS and Equipment, your role will involve designing, developing, and executing automated QA tests to validate the performance and functionality of the network OS. Your responsibilities will include: - Designing, developing, and enhancing automated tests to validate the operation of the Network OS driving data center network equipment. - Creating network topologies that replicate various data center and telecom network segments based on customer network designs. - Reviewing and improving test plans from a network engineer's perspective. - Supporting functional and regression testing of the network OS in virtual environments, actual hardware, or hybrid networks. - Executing QA testing of the NOS based on defined test plans to validate functionality post-bugfix implementation and prior to new version release. - Designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for QA purposes to enable continuous testing of the NOS. - Fixing deficiencies (bugs) in the QA simulation orchestrator, CI pipelines, and QA scripts. - Collaborating with the software development team to implement test scenarios for new features or OS functionality updates. - Investigating and reproducing bugs reported by the field team or developers, performing root cause analysis, and supporting the development team in bugfixes. Qualifications required to start in this role include: - 3+ years of practical work experience in packet networking. - Hands-on experience in network troubleshooting and diagnosing. - Network Engineering fundamentals at CCNP level or equivalent, including knowledge of IPv4/IPv6 unicast/multicast, BGP, OSPF routing, ACLs, LLDP, L2 Ethernet, 802.1q, SNMP, etc. - Experience operating Linux servers (VMs) at a system administrator level, preferably in the Debian family. - Knowledge of virtualization and containerization, such as preparing QEMU/KVM VM config and packaging apps as Docker containers. - Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting for task automation, script writing, and script interpretation. - Basic understanding of SCM (Git) and Git Flow, including branching, rebasing, and merge requests. Ideally, you will also have: - Experience in automated test development, particularly in networking. - Network Engineering expertise at a CCIE/HCIE level. - Proficiency in writing complex Ansible playbooks, Python programming, and designing CI/CD DevOps environments. - Extensive experience with Git SCMs and soft skills like critical thinking, problem-solving attitude, and effective communication skills.
