About the role
Skills : Primary -> Technology | Operating System | Create/modify/manage alerts for new/existing servers | 2 - Knowledgeable Primary -> Technology | Operating System | knowledge on performance management for OS | 2 - Knowledgeable Secondary -> Technology | Operating System | Working knowledge on multiple Windows OS platforms, OS configuration on different roles - Domain, WINS, DNS, DHCP, IIS, WSUS | 2 - Knowledgeable Secondary -> Technology | Operating System | Working knowledge on Setup and Configuration of native backups and troubleshooting | 2 - Knowledgeable 1. Hardware and Networking: a. Isolate issues using trace route, path ping, nslookup. b. Logon to remote server using terminal server (RDP / telnet / putty), for parameter / health checks. c. Monitor alerts and performing related SOP based troubleshooting tasks d. Perform Change management activities as per ITIL guidelines, SOP?s, Instruction Document and get desired approvals from the change control team 2. OS Administration: a. Check logs and services (such as event logs, check services / deamon status) b. Check utilization and availability c. Perform start up and shut down services by following SOP d. Deploy gold images on multiple servers using SOP e. Operating Systems - Linux, Sun, AIX: differentiate between various flavors of Unix f. Troubleshoot basic level backup issues like labelling, Tape DLT issues etc. 3. Clustering: a. Connect to cluster and check the status of nodes (up / down) and resource group 4. Virtualization: a. Connect to virtual console to check the status of snapshot, events and tasks b. Perform vmotion / lpm, DRS c. Put host into maintenance mode and restart 5. Backup and Disaster Recovery: a. Monitor backup services whether they are running or not 6. Storage: a. Identify drive utilization and differentiate whether the drive is internal or external b. Escalate / follow next steps for resolution 7. Unix User Management: a. SSH to UNIX server b. Search, create and edit files. c. Create or Delete users d. Create user groups, add users to user groups e. Set home directories and directory permissions f. User administration Technical Skills: a. Hardware,Network Components, Devices b. Systems Administration c. High Availability / Cluster Systems d. Virtualization Administration e. Storage and Backup Administration f.
