About the role
As a DevOps Manager, you will be a hands-on leader and strategic influencer responsible for managing the full DevOps lifecycle. This includes infrastructure automation, CI/CD, observability, and security practices in a regulated fintech environment. You will lead a team of DevOps engineers, champion tools, processes, and culture that drive high availability, scalability, and velocity. Your responsibilities will also include nurturing and growing a high-performing team, driving continuous improvement, ensuring platform reliability, optimizing costs and performance, guiding engineering maturity, and ensuring alignment with product, development, and cloud infrastructure stakeholders. Responsibilities: - Manage and mentor a DevOps team of 68 engineers, fostering growth, accountability, and performance. - Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and development planning. - Foster a learning and experimentation culture; identify and groom future leaders within the team. - Champion diversity, inclusion, psychological safety, and team motivation. - Own the end-to-end DevOps lifecycle, including CI/CD, IaC, observability, and incident management. - Lead and coordinate release management activities, ensuring safe, timely, and reliable production deployments. - Act as a gatekeeper for production changes, enforcing proper change management, documentation, and rollback plans. - Oversee cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) with a focus on high availability, resilience, and cost optimization. - Oversee cloud-native deployments with Kubernetes, containers, and serverless components. - Guide the creation of runbooks, KBs, help guides, and automation of operational tasks. - Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) adoption using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Pulumi. - Optimize CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, etc.) for build, test, and deploy automation. - Ensure adherence to security, compliance (PCI-DSS, ISO 27001), and audit readiness. - Own and improve monitoring/logging/alerting practices using tools like ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc. Essential Skills & Experience: - Proven experience in release management, production deployment planning, and execution. - Experience coordinating cross-team production releases including change management and communication. - Strong cloud infrastructure experience (AWS required; multi-cloud a plus). - Expertise in scripting languages (Python, Bash, or JavaScript; Go, Java, or PHP a plus). - Proficient with Kubernetes, containerization, and orchestration at scale. - Hands-on experience with CI/CD, automation, and IaC. - Proven experience managing DevOps in a 24x7 production environment. - Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional initiatives and large-scale deployments. Soft Skills: - Excellent verbal and written communication. - Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. - Strong analytical and decision-making abilities. - Ability to influence and align stakeholders across departments. Nice to Have: - Certifications: AWS DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Admin (CKA), or similar. - Experience in regulated fintech environments (PCI-DSS, RBI compliance, etc.). - Experience mentoring remote and globally distributed teams. - Proven success in driving process improvements using DevOps/SRE principles. - Passion for secure infrastructure and proactive threat mitigation.
