Data Engineer

Role: Data Engineer Experience: 3 - 6Years Employment Type: Employee Location: Hybrid Chennai Role Overview Seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support a strategic SAP HANA to Snowflake Data Platform Modernization initiative. The role focuses on cloud data engineering, ETL/ELT pipeline development, data modeling, Snowflake architecture, and enterprise-scale data migration. The candidate will collaborate with Data Architects, SAP HANA SMEs, BI teams, and business stakeholders to deliver a robust migration strategy. Key Responsibilities Design and develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for SAP HANA to Snowflake migration. Build Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to validate migration approaches, performance, and scalability. Implement Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold). Develop historical and incremental data loading frameworks using CDC strategies. Create reusable transformation logic using SQL, Python, PySpark, and dbt. Design and optimize Snowflake components including databases, schemas, virtual warehouses, stages, streams, tasks, and Snowpipe. Implement SCD Type 1 & Type 2 and dimensional modeling techniques. Perform data profiling, validation, reconciliation, and quality assessments. Optimize SQL queries, ELT processes, and Snowflake performance/cost efficiency. Evaluate and recommend tools such as dbt, Matillion, Fivetran, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, and Apache Airflow. Collaborate with architects and SAP HANA SMEs on mappings and transformation strategies. Create technical design documents, engineering standards, and implementation guidelines. Mentor Data Engineers and participate in code reviews, architecture reviews, and Agile ceremonies.
