Roles & Responsibilities: Define CFD modeling approach for innovative data center designs and develop validation methodologies for the engineering team.Lead internal CFD studies for data halls and electrical rooms including steady-state thermal analysis under failure scenarios.Perform transient thermal studies to assess IT equipment survivability during concurrent power and unit failure events.Own external CFD studies encompassing full campus mechanical and electrical plant including adjacent industrial complexes.Lead thermal plume recirculation analysis to understand heat dissipating equipment impact on building intake temperatures.Perform air emissions and contaminant dispersion modeling to quantify generator exhaust ingestion into building intakes.Propose and validate mitigation strategies where results indicate exceedance of defined limits and implement solutions.Manage external CFD consultants including review and approval of model inputs, assumptions, and boundary conditions.Provide mentoring, guidance and develop junior engineers in CFD techniques and mechanical design best practices.Serve as technical authority for thermal performance across the global engineering organization and establish standards.Experience Required: Senior level experience in mechanical design engineering with expertise in CFD analysis and thermal modeling for complex mechanical systems, particularly in data center environments.
