Job Description: Technical Delivery Lead – Data Engineering

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Technical Delivery Lead – Data Engineering to lead the design, implementation, and delivery of enterprise-scale data engineering solutions. This role combines strong technical expertise with delivery leadership, requiring the ability to manage a team of 10–15 Data Engineers while remaining hands-on with data architecture, solution design, and implementation.

The ideal candidate is an experienced leader who can bridge business and technology, drive Agile delivery, engage with senior stakeholders, and ensure the successful execution of complex data engineering programs.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

Lead the end-to-end delivery of enterprise data engineering projects.

Design scalable, secure, and high-performance data architectures.

Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to engineering teams.

Review architecture, code, and implementation approaches to ensure quality and best practices.

Drive adoption of modern data engineering patterns and cloud-native architectures.

Team Management

Lead and mentor a team of 10–15 Data Engineers .

Allocate work across the team and manage delivery capacity.

Coach engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical problem-solving.

Foster a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture.

Delivery Management

Own project delivery, ensuring milestones are achieved on time and within scope.

Manage risks, dependencies, issues, and change requests.

Coordinate with Product Owners, Architects, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders.

Ensure delivery quality through governance, standards, and continuous improvement.

Ensure communication plan is executed - Status updates, WSR, MSR

Agile Leadership

Lead Agile Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

Partner with Product Owners to prioritize work and manage sprint commitments.

Track sprint progress using Agile metrics such as velocity, burn-down charts, and predictability.

Stakeholder Management

Provide regular executive status updates to senior management.

Present project health, delivery metrics, risks, and mitigation plans.

Build strong relationships with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

12+ years of overall IT experience

5+ years leading Data Engineering teams

Experience managing Agile Scrum delivery teams

Experience reporting project status and risks to senior leadership

Experience working with geographically distributed teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Financial Services, Payments, Banking, or Insurance

• Experience with AI/ML data platforms and analytics

• Knowledge of Data Mesh, Data Fabric, and Semantic Layer concepts

• Familiarity with data governance and regulatory requirements

• Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

• Scrum Master or SAFe certification
