Senior Search Engineer

As a Senior Search Engineer at Nasuni, you will play a crucial role in the Search and MCP SaaS platform, ensuring fast, relevant, and reliable access to enterprise-scale unstructured data. You will be responsible for designing and implementing search features and APIs within defined services, contributing to relevance strategy and performance tuning, and ensuring the reliability and operational excellence of assigned OpenSearch clusters. This role is ideal for backend engineers with deep search expertise who enjoy hands-on development and operating production search systems at scale. You will work closely with the product, engineering, and cross-functional teams to deliver measurable search quality improvements. Key Responsibilities: - Design, build, and deploy backend search services and APIs primarily using Java - Develop and optimize OpenSearch queries, mappings, and indexing strategies for performance and scale - Improve search relevance through custom scoring, function scoring, query rewriting, and boosting - Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve OpenSearch cluster performance and stability issues - Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and on-call rotation - Collaborate with Product and Engineering partners to enhance search quality Qualifications Required: - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience - 2+ years of hands-on experience with OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, or Solr in production - Strong proficiency in Java for backend service development - Experience operating and tuning search clusters in a multi-tenant or large-scale environment Nasuni, a profitable and growing SaaS data infrastructure company, is reinventing enterprise file storage and data management in an AI-driven world.
