Head of Data Science, Managing Director

As the Head of Data Science at our company, you will play a crucial role in driving innovation and solving complex business problems using advanced data science techniques. You will have the opportunity to lead a team of data scientists and engineers in developing new data products and leveraging the bank's data assets to drive a 6x ROI. Your responsibilities will include: Being the Product Owner of the bank-wide data science platform and tools, driving adoption and usage across different departments Leading and growing the bank's Data Science Community of Practice to ensure a steady flow of data talent Developing a leading-edge data research agenda, creating new intellectual property, and publishing peer-reviewed papers Leading the India team of data scientists and engineers to explore and apply new techniques to data Creating value across the business through transformational projects and working closely with stakeholders Establishing academic and industry networks to support the bank's influence and acting as the technical data science expert at industry forums and conferences In addition to the above responsibilities, you will also: Lead the India-focused education, selling, and embedding developments in data science across the bank Drive the identification and delivery of opportunities to support the bank's strategic direction through better use of data Act as the pastoral lead for all DS&I resources in India Lead the Indian data science research and experimentation agenda to deepen the bank's understanding of analytical techniques Build the bank's brand in global data science communities to attract new talent To excel in this role, you should have: Deep experience in deploying data science techniques, including AI solutions like machine learning and generative AI Ability to work with and influence business stakeholders and data science peers Broad and deep understanding of banking from both business and data perspectives Experience with Python, Spark, and AWS-stack tools such as SageMaker and ECS Strong team management and development skills in a technically complex environment Structured thinking and the ability to simplify complex ideas A PhD in Data Science or related field with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience This role offers a unique opportunity to drive innovation, lead a talented team, and make a real impact on the business.
