Moodle Tech Lead

Job Title: Moodle Tech Lead Location: Gandhinagar, Gujarat (On-site) Employment Type: Full-time Permanent Experience: 5+ years About the Role We are looking for a seasoned Moodle Tech Lead to own the technical strategy, development, and operations of our Moodle-based LMS platform. You will lead a team of developers, drive platform architecture decisions, and ensure a seamless learning experience for 350,000+ global learners. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end Moodle platform development, customization, and feature enhancements Design and implement custom themes, workflows, and user experience improvements Integrate Moodle with third-party systems (CRMs, payment gateways, SSO, APIs) Develop, maintain, and audit custom Moodle plugins (activity modules, blocks, authentication, reports) Evaluate and integrate third-party plugins with security and performance in mind Maintain clean, documented, version-controlled plugin codebases Oversee Moodle server configuration, upgrades, and performance tuning Manage database optimization (MySQL/PostgreSQL), caching (Redis/Memcached), and CDN integration Ensure platform uptime, disaster recovery readiness, and incident response Define and enforce platform security standards and access controls Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and technical documentation Liaise with external vendors and Moodle partners as needed Required Skills & Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on Moodle development and administration experience Strong proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and MySQL/PostgreSQL Deep understanding of Moodle architecture, APIs, and plugin development framework Experience with Moodle integrations (SSO/SAML, REST APIs, LTI, payment gateways) Familiarity with server environments — Linux, Apache/Nginx, Docker Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines Strong understanding of LMS security, GDPR/data privacy compliance Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage cross-functional stakeholders Experience with mobile app integrations for LMS (iOS/Android) Familiarity with analytics tools (Mixpanel, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity) integrated with Moodle Knowledge of xAPI / Tin Can or SCORM standards Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Prior experience in EdTech or a platform serving large-scale global learners
