As a Cloud Database Architect at Newt Global, you will play a crucial role in the Product Engineering Team. Newt Global is a cloud technology leader that specializes in rapid app and data modernization through its innovative Platform-Led Factory Model. By leveraging platforms like DMAP, Newt Global accelerates cloud adoption and database migrations for global enterprises, with a focus on Application modernization, IaC, and Test automation. Your responsibilities will include: - Leading large-scale Oracle & MS SQL Server to PostgreSQL migrations, with a focus on cloud modernization on AWS, Azure, or GCP. This involves defining optimal migration strategies such as rehost, replatform, or refactor. - Designing secure and scalable database architectures to ensure high performance, data integrity, and minimal downtime during migrations. - Performing query optimization, converting PL/SQL/T-SQL to PL/pgSQL, and implementing performance tuning, indexing, and partitioning. - Collaborating with cross-functional teams to manage High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) and backup strategies, and utilizing migration tools like AWS DMS, Ora2Pg, and Azure DMS. - Mentoring teams and enforcing best practices to ensure successful migrations and efficient database operations. Desired Qualifications: - 15 years of experience in database architecture, with a focus on Oracle & PostgreSQL. - Expertise in cloud modernization on AWS, Azure, or GCP. - Proficiency in query optimization, PL/pgSQL, performance tuning, indexing, and partitioning. - Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. - Experience with migration tools like AWS DMS, Ora2Pg, and Azure DMS.
