About the role
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining high-performance transmission systems across enterprise networks. This includes fiber optics, routers, switches, and associated infrastructure critical to data and voice transmission. Your role will demand hands-on expertise in troubleshooting, configuration, and optimization of transmission paths to ensure seamless connectivity and minimal downtime. Key Responsibilities: - Define and document Network Engineering Standards - Create Low Level Design documents to meet requirements outlined in the High Level Design - Develop detailed Implementation Plans for all engineering related activity - Manage Technical Lifecycle Management for all Network & Communications services - Support Architecture in creating and maintaining a Delivery Roadmap for Network engineer - Provide escalation support to Operations with complex troubleshooting of Major Incidents as required - Provide on-call escalation support (rota basis) and work extended hours as and when required Core Skills & Experience: - Total 12+ years of experience required with a minimum of 8 years hands-on experience in Transmission network solutions within a global enterprise scale organization - Strong understanding of Layer 2, Layer 3 & Layer 4-7 network and network technologies - Expertise in Transmission Network such as DWDM, SDH, Leased Line, PSTN Circuits - Knowledge of network topology, telecommunication network transmission nodes, and optical fiber bands Technical Skills & Experience: - Expert knowledge and experience in Transmission Network, Network Routing & Switching, and Network Security - Desirable to have knowledge and experience in Public Cloud Peering with platforms like Azure, AWS, Google Certifications: - Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent - ITILv3 foundation or higher Personal Attributes: - Highly organized and capable of operating well under pressure - Good problem management and customer service skills - Positive attitude and ability to work with global teams to deliver projects - Strong communicator, both written and verbal - Acts with integrity and embraces the philosophy of treating customers fairly You will be part of a flexible and collaborative work culture at Northern Trust, a globally recognized financial institution committed to assisting the communities they serve.
