About the role
Role & responsibilities : Role Summary : The Network L2 Engineer provides advanced operational support for enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring rapid incident resolution, service stability, and execution of network changes within a 24x7 global operations model. The role requires strong technical troubleshooting capabilities and close collaboration with L1, L3 teams, and vendors to maintain network performance and meet agreed SLAs.Key Responsibilities : - Incident & Event Management : Own and resolve network incidents escalated from L1 or monitoring tools, ensuring timely service restoration and proactive remediation of network events.- Change Implementation : Execute approved changes across routing, switching, firewall, and load balancing platforms in line with governance and risk controls.- Operations Support : Deliver BAU network operations across LAN, WAN, and data centre environments, ensuring high availability and performance.- Escalation & Collaboration : Work closely with L3 SMEs, vendors, and stakeholders, providing clear diagnostics and timely updates during incidents and major outages.- Service Improvement : Contribute to automation, process optimisation, and knowledge management to enhance operational efficiency and reduce repeat incidents.Key Technical Skills : - Networking : Strong expertise in routing (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP) and switching (Cisco ACI, NX-OS, VLANs, VPC, HSRP/VRRP, Catalyst, ASR/CSR).- Security : Hands-on experience with enterprise firewalls (Fortigate preferred, Checkpoint/Juniper).- Load Balancing : Working knowledge of F5 LTM/GTM, VIPRION, and application traffic management concepts (VIPs, pools, SNAT, SSL/PKI).- DNS/HDCP & Proxy : Infoblox DNS/DHCP, Proxy technologies (Zscaler/Bluecoat), and basic automation/scripting.- Troubleshooting : Proficiency with diagnostic tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, traceroute, nslookup, dig, etc.) for network and application connectivity issues.- Monitoring & Tools : Experience with network monitoring and automation tools (e.g., Spectrum, NetBrain, Observe, Ansible).Experience & Profile : - 6+ years of experience in network operations/support within large enterprise environments.- Proven ability to operate in 24x7 global support models with strong ownership and accountability.- Solid understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management) and tools such as ServiceNow.- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to perform under pressure.- BFSI domain exposure is advantageous.
