Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure

Role Overview: Notion is looking for a skilled and experienced Data Engineer to join their Data Engineering Infrastructure team based in India. As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing and improving the data pipelines, infrastructure, and CI/CD tooling on the Notion platform. You will be responsible for implementing Infrastructure as Code, enhancing CI/CD pipelines, provisioning compute resources, ensuring observability, and providing operational coverage during India hours. This role offers high autonomy and the opportunity to work on progressively larger infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities: - Infrastructure as Code: Manage and improve Terraform stacks for AWS and Snowflake resources, ensuring proper tracking, modularization, and security. - CI/CD: Enhance pipelines with alerting on test failures, PR validation, and deployment guardrails. - Compute Provisioning: Set up and maintain EMR clusters, track health, and scale based on workload needs. - Observability: Configure monitoring, alerting, and dashboards to maintain platform health and visibility. - Operational Coverage: Triage DAG failures, infrastructure alerts, and platform incidents during India hours to provide faster response times. Qualifications Required: - 7+ years of experience as a software or infrastructure engineer with strong DevOps experience. - Experience in data platform or infrastructure domains. - Deep hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), managing large stacks, and debugging complex issues. - Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, including pipeline design, caching, and deployment strategies. - Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS) across services like EMR, S3, Athena, and EKS. - Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python or another object-oriented language. - Self-starter who can independently identify opportunities and execute with minimal direction. - Willingness to adopt AI tools for smarter work and better results.
