API Gateway Engineer

Design, configure, and maintain API gateway solutions (Apigee, APIM, Kong). Develop API proxies, policies, routing rules, transformations, and custom plugins. Implement throttling, caching, load balancing, and traffic management features. Security & Compliance Enforce API security using OAuth2, JWT, API keys, and other authentication methods. Ensure compliance with company security standards and industry regulations. Manage access control, rate limiting, IP filtering, and threat protection. API Development & Integration Work closely with backend and frontend teams to onboard new APIs. Create and maintain API documentation, versioning, lifecycle policies, and developer onboarding flows. Support microservices integration and service discovery. Monitoring & Performance Optimization Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools such as Cloud Watch, Grafana, Splunk, ELK, or Prometheus. Optimize API performance, latency, and error handling. Troubleshoot production issues and ensure high availability. Automation & CI/CD Contribute to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Cloud Formation) for gateway configurations. Develop reusable templates and API on-boarding frameworks. Required Skills & Qualifications 25+ years of experience working with API gateways or API management platforms. Strong understanding of REST, Graph QL, and Micro services architecture. Handson experience with API security standards (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT). Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, Bash, Node.js, Power shell). Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). .
