Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking an Roadway Design Engineer to join our growing transportation design team. This role is ideal for early‑career engineers looking to build a strong technical foundation while contributing to roadway, highway, intersection, bicycle, and pedestrian infrastructure projects. You will work closely with senior engineers and project managers, gaining hands-on experience across all phases of roadway design.

Provide technical support to project engineers and project managers

Develop conceptual roadway layouts under guidance

Assist in designing roadway geometrics

Support development of drainage designs

Prepare construction staging plans

Assist with erosion and sedimentation control designs

Prepare construction plan sheets and supporting documentation

Prepare right-of-way plans

Support development of construction staging plans

Perform other related design tasks as assigned

Work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

  • 0–4 years of relevant engineering experience

  • EIT certification preferred or ability to obtain

  • Interest in transportation engineering and roadway design

  • Familiarity with CAD platforms (MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar)

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Good communication and technical writing skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
