About the role
As an Individual Contributor for the Database STL role at Paytm, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and reliability of MySQL databases in production and staging environments. Your expertise in MySQL, along with a strong working knowledge of MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Cassandra, will be instrumental in architecting, managing, and supporting database clusters for scale and resilience. Your key responsibilities will include: - End-to-End Ownership of MySQL databases, focusing on availability, performance, and reliability. - Architecting, managing, and supporting MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Cassandra clusters for scale and resilience. - Defining and enforcing backup, recovery, HA, and DR strategies across critical database platforms. - Driving performance engineering by tuning queries, optimizing schemas, indexing, and partitioning for high-volume workloads. - Ensuring replication, clustering, and failover architectures for business continuity. - Championing automation & AI-driven operations, collaborating with Cloud/DevOps teams on AWS database services for cost optimization, security, and performance. - Establishing monitoring dashboards & alerting mechanisms for slow queries, replication lag, deadlocks, and capacity planning. - Leading incident management & on-call rotations to ensure rapid response and minimal MTTR. - Acting as a strategic technical partner, contributing to database roadmaps, automation strategy, and adoption of AI-driven DBA practices.
