Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Job Summary We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with strong expertise in Java-based automation frameworks. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in both manual and automation testing, along with a solid understanding of backend systems, Linux environments, and database testing. The role involves designing and maintaining robust test automation frameworks, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Java and Spring Boot . Experience with Karate. Create and execute automated test scripts using Cucumber (BDD framework) . Perform manual and automation testing for web applications, APIs, and backend systems. Develop and execute test cases, test plans, and test strategies based on business requirements. Perform API testing using REST services and validate responses, data integrity, and performance. Work with SQL databases to validate data consistency, write complex queries, and perform backend validation. Utilize Linux/Unix environments for executing scripts, analyzing logs, and troubleshooting issues. Develop and maintain shell scripts for automation, deployment validation, and regression testing. Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and product teams to ensure quality throughout the SDLC. Identify, log, and track defects, and ensure timely resolution. Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives. Continuously improve testing processes, frameworks, and quality standards. Required Skills Core Technical Skills Strong experience in Java and Spring Boot for automation framework development Hands-on experience with Cucumber (BDD framework) Experience in both Manual and Automation Testing Strong knowledge of REST API testing and validation Systems and Tools Good experience with Linux/Unix environments Strong knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL/Oracle) Experience in writing and executing Shell scripts Testing Expertise Test case design and execution Functional, regression, and integration testing API and backend testing Debugging and root cause analysis Good to Have Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or similar Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes Experience with performance testing tools Familiarity with test management tools like JIRA, TestRail Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field Relevant experience as an SDET / QA Automation Engineer
