Senior Staff Software Engineer

Role Overview: As a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Palo Alto Networks, you will be joining a small team of senior engineers responsible for building the connectors framework for the Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) product. Your role will involve coding, designing, securing, improving, scaling, testing, and maintaining the platform's integration with enterprise and SaaS systems. Key Responsibilities: - Contribute to architecture and system design for connector services, including APIs, integration patterns, data flows, and operational boundaries. - Harden and scale the framework and related microservices for performance, fault tolerance, and maintainability. - Collaborate with product and engineering peers on technical trade-offs, roadmap alignment, and production readiness. - Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and incident learning to enhance engineering quality across the team. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: - Senior-level experience of approximately 8+ years in software engineering, with a track record of owning production services from design through deployment and ongoing operation. - Strong background in software and systems design, including abstractions, contracts, scalability, and security implications. - Hands-on experience in shipping and operating microservices on AWS in production. - Technical expertise in integration or connector-style systems at scale, with a focus on sync and incremental jobs, retries, idempotency, backpressure, and rate limits. - Demonstrated impact in improving reliability, performance, or security, with a history of active participation in design reviews and production accountability. - Excellent communication skills, collaborative mindset, and a strong curiosity and learning orientation. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Node.js, Express, and MongoDB. - Familiarity with observability platforms like Datadog for metrics, traces, logs, dashboards, and alerting. - Comfort with AI-assisted/agentic development for implementation and exploration. - Experience in mentoring or elevating team members through review, pairing, or technical leadership. - Knowledge of identity or IGA-adjacent domains, including user and entitlement lifecycle, provisioning and deprovisioning, access reviews, integrations with HRIS/ITSM/directories, SSO (SAML/OIDC), SCIM, audit, compliance, and least-privilege concerns in access systems.
