Applications Engineer

Conditions of Employment Job Purpose: As a member of the Engineering team you are responsible for translating customer sealing requirements into a seal design proposal and convert it into an industrialized product. This is done based on sealing technology and in depth material knowledge combined with hands on experience.

Job Responsibilities: Converts customer requirements into a feasible, polymer based sealing solution proposal.

Converts customer orders for new product items into production drawings using Inventor and AutoCAD or equivalent design software.

Guides the industrialization process of a new product item.

Acts as project leader or team member in our project management structure.

Thinks together with the team and our customers to solve non-standard sealing requests.

Offers technical support to the Customer Service/Quotation department.

Collaborate with production, quality and procurement to guarantee feasibility.

Joins our field sales team at customers when technical support is needed.

Daily customer contact with important global customer base.

Generic and customer based testing in our technology center.

Designs specific seal test rigs and takes active part in the testing program.

Correct observance of guidelines on sorting waste, storing, using and disposing of/cleaning up hazardous substances and on sustainable energy consumption.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• The ideal candidate has some years’ experience in design and application engineering of machine elements in an industrial environment.

• Master degree in engineering, preferably in electro-mechanics or machine design.

• Big affinity with CAD design is required as this will be substantial part of the job.

• Knowledge of Inventor or other 3D CAD packages is a must

• Detail-orientated.

• Experience in the polymer sealing industry is a plus.

• Excellent presentation and reporting skills, verbal and written.

• Good communication skills.

• Fluent in English and Dutch, working knowledge of German and French.

• Willingness to travel for shorter periods.

• Team player but must be able to work independently on projects.

• Hands-on mentality.

• Reporting: Works in the PTFE Engineering team in Boom

• Reports to the team lead application engineering
