Engineer – Backend (Java)

At PayPal, Backend Software Engineers are the architects of our global payment platform. You'll design, develop, and optimize core systems that power millions of transactions daily, directly impacting our customers experiences and our company's success. Your day-to-day As a Senior Software Engineer - Backend , you'll design and implement backend solutions. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products. Design and develop scalable backend systems. Optimize system performance and reliability. Mentor junior engineers. What do you need to bring Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. 3-5 years of backend development experience. Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Python, Ruby on Rails) Advanced proficiency in backend development with either Java EE frameworks, including experience with Spring MVC, or Hibernate. Experience designing and implementing RESTful services, focusing on scalability and reliability, using Java. Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews and design discussions. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) Experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL) Strong understanding of database design, including SQL and NoSQL databases, and experience with ORM tools. Preferred Qualifications Experience with large-scale, high-performance systems. Knowledge of the payment processing industry and relevant regulations. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure). Contributions to open-source projects.
