Functional Safety Engineer..

John Deere is seeking a dedicated and experienced Functional Safety Engineer to join our team, focusing specifically on ensuring the safety of our off-highway vehicles, primarily agricultural tractors and related machinery. This role is critical in applying functional safety principles and practices, strictly adhering to ISO 25119 standards. The successful candidate will manage the entire functional safety lifecycle from concept to validation, ensuring our off-highway vehicles meet the highest safety standards in the industry.

Responsibilities

• Functional Safety Lifecycle Management for Off-Highway Vehicles:

• Conduct specialized hazard and risk analyses (HARA) tailored to the unique operational environments of agricultural tractors and off-highway machinery.

• Develop functional and technical safety requirements in strict compliance with ISO 25119, specifically for off-highway vehicle systems.

• Create and maintain comprehensive safety plans, safety cases, and documentation relevant to agricultural equipment.

• Perform detailed functional safety analyses (FTA, FMEA, FMEDA) focused on off-highway vehicle systems and potential hazards.

• Develop and execute rigorous validation and verification plans to demonstrate ISO 25119 compliance for tractor and agricultural machinery functionalities.

• Manage safety-related changes throughout the development lifecycle of off-highway vehicles.

• ISO 25119 Expertise for Agricultural Machinery:

• Serve as the subject matter expert on ISO 25119 for off-highway vehicle applications within John Deere.

• Interpret and apply ISO 25119 requirements to the specific design and operation of agricultural tractors and related equipment.

• Lead and participate in safety audits and assessments, ensuring compliance with ISO 25119 for off-highway vehicle products.

• Maintain current knowledge of ISO 25119 and related standards, particularly as they pertain to agricultural and off-highway machinery.
