Job Title: Functional Safety Engineer – Hardware Domain

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Functional Safety Engineer – Hardware to lead and support safety compliance activities for hardware systems in accordance with ISO 26262 and related safety standards. The candidate will be responsible for safety concept development, hardware safety analysis, FMEDA, and ensuring compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead hardware functional safety activities in compliance with ISO 26262.
Develop and review:
Item Definition
Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA)
Functional Safety Concept (FSC)
Technical Safety Concept (TSC)
Hardware Safety Requirements (HSR)
Perform hardware safety analyses including:
FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Analysis)
FTA (Fault Tree Analysis)
DFA (Dependent Failure Analysis)
Calculate and validate hardware safety metrics (SPFM, LFM, PMHF).
Support ASIL decomposition and hardware architectural design reviews.
Collaborate with system, software, and validation teams to ensure end-to-end safety compliance.
Review and approve safety-related hardware schematics and PCB layouts.
Ensure traceability of safety requirements using tools like DOORS/Jama/Polarion.
Support safety audits, assessments, and certification activities.
Interface with third-party assessors and certification bodies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering.
5+ years of experience in hardware development within safety-critical systems.
Strong knowledge of:
ISO 26262 (Part 5 – Hardware)
IEC 61508 (preferred)
Hands-on experience in FMEDA and safety analysis tools (Medini, APIS IQ, Ansys Medini Analyze).
Understanding of microcontrollers, power electronics, sensors, and communication interfaces (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
Knowledge of safety mechanisms (watchdogs, redundancy, diagnostics).
Familiarity with semiconductor safety manuals.
Experience working with ASPICE-based development environments is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications

ISO 26262 Functional Safety Certification.

Experience in automotive ECUs, ADAS, EV systems, or industrial safety systems.

Knowledge of semiconductor safety standards such as ISO 26262-11.

Exposure to cybersecurity standards (e.g., ISO/SAE 21434).
