NICET Level 4 Engineer

Job description:

Develop detailed system designs for fire alarm and life safety systems, including wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and system configurations.

Prepare complete permit submittal packets for AHJs, including battery calculations, equipment cut sheets, and compliance documents.

Ensure all drawings and submittals are compliant with NFPA standards and other relevant U.S. codes.

Collaborate with project managers, contractors, subcontractors, the local AHJ’s and other stakeholders to gather project-specific information and resolve design-related challenges.

Review and modify design documents to meet evolving project requirements and AHJ feedback.

Coordinate with vendors and OEMs to select appropriate fire alarm equipment and technologies.

Perform quality checks on all submittal documents and system designs to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Support field teams with design clarifications and technical expertise as needed during installation and commissioning phases.

Job Requirements:

NICET Level 4 Certification required.

A minimum of 10 years of experience working with fire alarm and low-voltage systems, including design, permitting, and compliance processes.

Expertise in NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), and other relevant U.S. fire safety and electrical codes.

Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD or Revit for generating detailed fire alarm system drawings. ]

Strong knowledge of battery calculations, wiring diagrams, and the preparation of submittal packets for AHJs.

Experience working with U.S.-based AHJs and a deep understanding of the U.S. permitting process for systems.

Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external contractors, and AHJs.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working for a systems integrator or engineering services provider.

• Familiarity with UL certification processes and other life safety product standards.

• Hands-on experience with fire alarm commissioning and troubleshooting.
