Job Summary The Senior Marketing Data Scientist will develop and deploy marketing-focused analytical and machine learning solutions across People Inc. entertainment brands. This role sits at the intersection of customer analytics, experimentation, and growth strategy, partnering closely with Marketing, Product, and Editorial teams. The ideal candidate has deep experience applying statistical modeling and machine learning to marketing problems, including customer segmentation, acquisition, engagement, retention, and customer LifeTime Value. You will own models and analyses that inform personalization, automated marketing, attribution, experimentation, and lifecycle optimization, translating complex customer behavior into actionable insights that drive measurable business outcomes. Unlike traditional data science roles focused purely on modeling, this position requires a strong ability to: Support translating product questions into data-driven insightsHelp define and track user engagement, retention, and churn metricsCollaborate with product, engineering, and marketing stakeholders Primary responsibilities: Product Analytics, Experimentation & InsightsAnalyze user behavior to identify engagement patterns, retention trends, and churn signalsSupport the design and evaluation of A/B tests to measure product and campaign impactAssist in translating product questions into structured analyses and actionable insight.Data Modeling, Segmentation & PersonalizationBuild and maintain user-level datasets (engagement, activity, segmentation features)Support development of user segmentation frameworks (e.g., cohorts, archetypes)Build and maintain LTV, churn, and propensity models to support acquisition, retention, and re-engagement strategiesContribute to analytical approaches such as survival modeling, and forecastingCross-Functional Collaboration & CommunicationWork closely with data science and cross-functional teams to support data-informed decisionsCommunicate findings clearly through analyses, dashboards, and presentationsProactively explore data to surface insights and opportunities Required Mandatory Skills: Masters or advanced degree in Data Science, Economics, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar quantitative field, or equivalent experience3+ years of experience applying data science to consumer-facing and marketing-focused problems.Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and model development.Hands-on experience of building machine learning solutions using Gradient Boosting libraries (e.g., XGBoost, LightGBM, or CatBoost) or deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorflowDemonstrated experience designing and analyzing online experiments (A/B testing)Ability to communicate complex analyses clearly to non-technical marketing and business stakeholders.
