Job Details Functional Safety Engineer Baner, Pune, Maharashtra, India 4.6 - 8 Years Job Description Qualification: BE/BTech/ME/MTech - Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, E&TC Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Computer Science Engineering Experience: 6 to 8 Years Roles & Responsibilities: An ISO 26262 Safety Manager acc. TRATON processes is responsible for leading functional safety activities across the entire product lifecycle of an electric/electronical system. In our case it is for electrical high voltage power take-off (ePTO/emPTO) and power distribution (VCB) applications. They define safety concepts, organize safety plans, and compile safety cases to ensure automotive electronic systems comply with strict international and internal TRATON Group standards. Your area of responsibility consists of management of systems functional safety in innovative development projects according to ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and ISO 21448 You moderate hazard analyses such as HARA and HAZOP and safety analyses such as FMEA, FTA and DFA You work on the safety of system design of electronic systems for various technologies e-mobility systems like electrical high voltage power take-off (ePTO/emPTO) and power distribution (VCB) applications You manage safety requirements throughout the whole safety lifecycle You contribute to the functional safety vehicle testing in renowned TRATON projects You manage the supplier interface with respect to functional safety or SOTIF You perform reviews, safety assessments and safety audits You define and improve the processes, methodologies, guidelines, and toolchains You also guide and train the teams and supervise junior safety engineers Must Have: You hold a successfully completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, E&TC Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Computer Science Engineering ,Control Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Drive Technology, or Energy Technology. You have min. 5 68 years years of experience in the development in functional safety management You have strong knowledge of Functional Safety, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or other comparable and related standards You have experience with failure analysis methodologies, such as HARA, HAZOP, FMEA, FTA Your previous tool experience in MS Visio, MS Project, Requirement and Safety Engineering tool like Medini Analyzer, ISO graph Reliability Workbench is an advantage Your previous experience in the field of automotive systems with focus on high voltage (VCB) electronics is an advantage You speak English very well and willing to work in a proactive and ambitious international team You enjoy working in interdisciplinary and innovative project teams (e.g., Agile, Scrum). Excellent communication and teamwork skills complete your profile. Primary Skills (Must Have) Embedded Software Engineer with Infineon AURIX controller experience / experience with AURIX Safety Manual Good understanding of ISO 26262 Part 6 & Part 4 + Strong experience in Hardware I/O & Peripheral Handling Strong understanding of the Functional Safety Lifecycle Preferred Technical Exposure Embedded C Automotive ECU Software Development Safety Mechanism Implementation Low-level Driver Development ECU Integration Diagnostics AUTOSAR (preferred but not the primary focus) Education BE/B.Tech / ME/M.Tech preferred Relevant experience can be considered over education Team Handling - Individual Contributor (IC) Work Mode Hybrid Shift General Shift The role has been again updated/ redefined from a generic Functional Safety Engineer to an Embedded Software Engineer with Functional Safety implementation expertise . Candidates should have hands-on experience on AURIX controllers and should be able to interpret and implement requirements using the AURIX Safety Manual . Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 Part 4 (System Development) and Part 6 (Software Development) is mandatory. Experience in Hardware I/O, peripheral configuration, and low-level embedded software development is essential. The hiring manager is looking for engineers who have owned component-level development rather than only Functional Safety documentation, management, or compliance activities. Profiles focused only on FuSa management, HARA, Safety Case preparation, or AUTOSAR BSW configuration without component-level safety implementation are unlikely to be shortlisted. Candidates with 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience can now be considered.
