About the role
As a WordPress developer, your role involves creating, customizing, and maintaining websites using the WordPress Content Management System (CMS). You will be responsible for designing front-end user interfaces and writing back-end code to build fully functional, responsive websites that bridge aesthetics and programming. Core Responsibilities: - Custom Development: Writing custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch using PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. - Front-End Integration: Translating UI/UX designs into pixel-perfect, responsive web pages that look great on any device. - Back-End Functionality: Managing website architecture, server/database integration, and ensuring smooth performance and data management. - Maintenance & Security: Installing core updates, backing up website data, and monitoring site security to protect against vulnerabilities. - Troubleshooting: Debugging code, fixing broken links, and resolving performance bottlenecks. - API Integrations: Connecting the website to third-party services, such as payment gateways, CRM systems, or email marketing platforms. Key Skills Required: To excel in this role, you need a robust skill set that encompasses design principles and server-side scripting: - Coding Languages: Deep knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and PHP. - WordPress Ecosystem: Proficiency with the WordPress core, hooks, custom post types, and REST API. - Page Builders & Frameworks: Experience using and customizing page builders like Elementor or WPBakery, as well as frameworks like Bootstrap or Tailwind. - Version Control & Tools: Familiarity with Git, local development environments (e.g., Local by Flywheel), and cPanel.
