Engineering Manager - Java

Role Overview: You will be an Engineering Manager at Phenom, leading a team that focuses on building and scaling core platform capabilities within Phenom's AI-driven talent experience platform. Your role will involve driving architecture, execution, and team development to deliver scalable and reliable systems for global enterprise customers. Collaborating closely with Product, Technical Program Management, and cross-functional engineering teams, you will play a key role in delivering impactful capabilities that shape the future of talent technology. Key Responsibilities: - Lead end-to-end delivery of engineering initiatives, starting from architecture and design to production deployment. - Translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions that align with the long-term platform architecture. - Implement engineering best practices in code quality, testing, observability, and system reliability. - Design and develop large-scale distributed systems to support enterprise SaaS products. - Ensure the security, availability, and scalability of systems to meet global enterprise workloads. - Guide teams in building microservices-based cloud-native systems through architecture discussions. - Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of talented software engineers. - Offer technical guidance, career coaching, and performance feedback to team members. - Cultivate a culture of ownership, collaboration, and engineering excellence within the team. - Ensure that production systems meet reliability, performance, and scalability targets. - Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous reliability enhancements. - Enhance engineering efficiency through automation, tooling, and development best practices. - Contribute to platform-wide architecture and engineering strategy. - Identify opportunities to build reusable services and platform capabilities. - Drive initiatives that create long-term engineering leverage across teams. Qualifications Required: - 10+ years of software engineering experience in product development organizations. - A minimum of 4 years of experience in leading engineering teams. - Proficiency in designing and constructing large-scale distributed systems. - Strong backend development skills in Java or similar languages. - Experience in developing microservices-based architectures. - Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure. - Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or similar. - Solid system design and architecture capabilities. - Ability to convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in dynamic product environments.
