About the role
Dear Candidate, Job Title: Production Planning Engineer/ Senior Engineer (Wind Turbine Gearbox) Job Purpose The Production Planning Engineer manages the assembly, testing, and delivery schedules for heavy-duty industrial gearboxes. The plant operates exclusively as an assembly unit utilizing customer-supplied components (Free Issue Materials). The role focuses on staging, kit readiness, workforce allocation, and capacity planning. Key Responsibilities Customer-Supplied Material Staging & Kit Planning Verify Kit Readiness: Confirm 100% availability of all customer-supplied components (gears, shafts, housings, bearings) before releasing jobs to assembly lines. Track Free-Issue Inventory: Monitor and reconcile customer-received parts within the ERP system to prevent shortages. Manage Inward Discrepancies: Identify and report missing or damaged customer components immediately to the supply chain team. Assembly Scheduling & Flow Optimization Develop Assembly Schedules: Create detailed schedules for assembly stations, paint booths, and final testing beds (no-load / full-load testing). Allocate Shop Floor Space: Plan storage layouts for incoming heavy components and large finished gearboxes to maintain smooth material flow. Balance Workstation Capacity: Adjust line capacity based on assembly complexity, crane availability, and specialized tooling needs. Quality & Delivery Coordination Coordinate Testing Schedules: Align testing timelines with customer inspectors and internal quality engineers for witness testing. Monitor Lead Times: Manage the end-to-end timeline from component receipt to final packing and customer dispatch. Support Engineering Updates: Coordinate with customer engineering teams when fitment issues require quick adjustments. Candidate Profile & Qualifications Education Qualifications Degree: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering. Work Experience Engineer: 3 to 6 years of planning experience in a heavy equipment assembly, manufacturing, or gearbox assembly environment. Technical Skills Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems, specifically inventory tracking and production order scheduling modules. Blueprint Literacy: High proficiency in reading complex mechanical engineering drawings and assembly sequence diagrams. Material Management: Strong understanding of tracking Customer-Owned Inventory / Free Issue Materials. Soft Skills Client Interface Capability: Professional communication skills to report component shortages or technical issues directly to customer coordinators.
