Role: Senior Software Developer, Tech Enablement Location: Mohali Job Description There are primarily three areas of work at Plaksha for a developer. • Website Our website is built and maintained in-house. We keep improving it and adding features based on the requirements of various departments, faculty and centres at Plaksha University. Our website is powered by a custom-built Laravel-based CMS. The front-end is written in Blade templates and Bootstrap CSS is used as the foundation for our styling rules. • Products We develop in-house products for amplifying various efforts in the university. We're also developing AI-powered products for a university of the future. Some examples of internal tools are a portal to showcase students projects, a helpdesk tool to manage internal requests and a QR generation tool to act as a unified hub for all QR codes related to the university. • Integrations For operational efficiency, Plaksha also uses commercial software for various functions. We integrate them in our in-house Data Lake infrastructure powered by an AI-chatbot. Experience and Education • Bachelor's Degree, ideally B.E. or B. Tech. • Minimum of 5+ years in software development • Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a manager, working with junior developers as well as non-technical stakeholders Skills and Competencies • Has 5+ years of experience in building and deploying software which is used by other people. • Is confident of their software development skills, irrespective of the technology stack involved. • Would be able to tease out clear requirements based on sometimes fuzzy problem statements. • Would be able to envision and architect solutions that are robust, secure, easy-to-use, easy-to-maintain and can scale with the needs of the university. • Would be able to rethink, reorganise and refactor existing products and codebases to meet changes in requirements. • Would be able to coordinate and work with multiple teams and non-technical stakeholders to build products that solve their problems while meeting reasonable timelines. • Is comfortable with front-end and back-end technologies as well as connected databases. • Has experience handling Apache/Nginx servers and is familiar with Azure and AWS platforms. Experience with Laravel/PHP and .NET is a plus. • Has a working knowledge of good design/UX principles. • Exhibits good verbal and written communication skills (including when managing task tickets and writing comments in code). • Has experience working with other developers in a team and mentoring them. • Can work responsibly in a dynamic environment with minimal oversight.
