About the role

As a Manufacturing Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing new processes and procuring equipment necessary for new product development. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that the Engineering team enhances its responsiveness to meet customer requirements of Time & Quality through the timely execution of projects. Key Responsibilities: - Design and develop the Assembly process, Jigs, fixtures & gauges for new products related to Motor, Gearbox, and encoders. - Collaborate closely with the Design Team to incorporate Design for Assembly (DFA) principles during the Design process and to map new manufacturing processes & Equipment. Estimate the required capabilities and investment for production volumes. - Provide support to manufacturing on critical to quality process projects to implement new technologies for enhancing existing equipment/processes to ensure sustainable quality. - Continuously monitor & enhance Rolled throughput yield of the first five production lots of New Products (>95%). - Ensure a smooth transition of new products from proto to production stage. - Implement PPAP including Manufacturing Flow Charts, Standard Work, procedures, Route sheets, Control Plans, and FMEAs as per ISO standards and ABS requirements. - Collaborate closely with Operations to execute projects effectively. Qualifications Required: - Knowledge and hands-on experience in Assembly process design and development, Jigs and Fixtures Development, Process validation, Statistical process control, Low-cost automation with poka-yoke, and other Process capability and problem-solving tools. - Experience in Electric Motor assembly & Measurement equipment concept finalization, selection of suppliers & Procurement activities. - Proficiency in 2D drawing (AutoCAD) & 3D modeling (Pro-E, Solid works) with GD&T, and Jigs/Fixtures material selection. - Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing methods and/or Six Sigma. - Profound understanding of using Problem-solving tools (8D, DoE, C&E Diagram) to reach sustainable solutions. - Preferred exposure to Product Development Cycle (APQP) in an engineering/manufacturing product line from concept to launch, dealing with small/medium size/precise products, rotary machines/OEM.
