Designer Engineer Automotive Plastic Interiors | CATIA V5 | Air Vent / Glove Box Location: Bhosari, Pune Experience: 4- 10 Years Industry: Automotive / Auto Components / Plastic Injection Moulding We are looking for an experienced Lead Designer Automotive Plastic Interiors & Exteriors to lead the design, development, and validation of automotive plastic components and systems. The role requires strong expertise in automotive interior plastic part design, CATIA V5, injection moulding, kinematic mechanisms, GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, and OEM design standards .The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in the design and development of Air Vents and/or Glove Boxes , along with exposure to OEM programs and Tier-1 automotive suppliers. Key Responsibilities: Lead concept-to-production design and development of automotive interior components such as dashboard and console air vents, glove boxes, armrests, and related plastic assemblies . Ensure designs comply with OEM technical specifications, packaging, airflow, NVH, functional, ergonomic, quality, cost, timing, and manufacturability requirements . Review Class-A, Class-B, and Class-C surfaces for design and manufacturing feasibility. Prepare concepts, master sections, and engineering surfaces to confirm CAS feasibility. Analyse gaps, flushness, interference, packaging, tolerance, and assembly-related issues . Conduct vehicle-level build audits and prototype checks. Drive DFMEA, DVP&R, tolerance stack-up, GD&T, DFM/DFA, APQP, and PPAP activities . Review and approve 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and BOMs . Support tool try-outs, first shots, design corrections, and T0/T1/T2 tool trials . Coordinate with Manufacturing, Tooling, Quality, Supplier Development, Program Management, Purchasing, suppliers, and OEM engineering teams. Review DFM, mould flow reports, part feasibility, and RFQ technical inputs . Mentor design engineers and provide technical direction on plastic part design, kinematic mechanisms, and automotive design best practices. Mandatory Requirements: 4-10 years of experience in automotive plastic part design and engineering. Mandatory experience in Air Vent and/or Glove Box design and development. Strong hands-on expertise in CATIA V5 . Experience in automotive interior plastic components and injection-moulded parts. Strong knowledge of mechanism and kinematic design . Experience working on OEM programs and/or with Tier-1 automotive suppliers . Good understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, DFM/DFA, DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, and PPAP . Knowledge of automotive validation processes and OEM interior standards. Preferred SkillsCATIA V5, Teamcenter/PLM, Automotive Plastic Part Design, Injection Moulding, Air Vent Design, Glove Box Design, Kinematic Mechanisms, GD&T, Tolerance Stack-Up, DFMEA, DVP&R, DFM/DFA, APQP, PPAP, Class-A/B/C Surfaces, Tool Trials, Mould Flow, BOM, 3D CAD and 2D Drawings. Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
