Database Administrator

As a Database Administrator at Programmers.io India Pvt. Ltd., you will be an integral part of the DBA team supporting a diverse, enterprise-scale database environment in the retail industry. Your primary focus will be to ensure the availability, performance, and security of the data systems that power our stores, e-commerce operations, supply chain, and corporate functions. You will collaborate with a team of DBAs and contribute your expertise while growing across platforms. If you have experience in mainframe database environments, particularly IBM DB2 on z/OS, it will be highly valued. Key Responsibilities: - Support and maintain enterprise database environments across mainframe, windows server, AIX, and Linux. - Utilize IBMi DB2 on z/OS experience for effective database management. - Demonstrate solid working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and performance tuning. - Communicate effectively with stakeholders and team members using Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and standard Office tools. - Manage retail-specific data workloads including point-of-sale systems, inventory management, customer data, and reporting/analytics pipelines. - Identify and advocate for opportunities to improve processes, automation, and tooling within the DBA team. Qualifications Required: - Experience in database administration, with a focus on mainframe database environments, especially IBM DB2 on z/OS. - Proficiency in relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and performance tuning. - Strong communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and team members effectively. - Knowledge of Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and standard Office tools. - Familiarity with supporting retail-specific data workloads.
