AVP - Engineering Backend

Years of Experience :- +12 Years Reports To: Head of Engineering We are seeking a Lead Engineer to guide and shape a team of talented so6ware engineers, creating exceptional so6ware solutions that align with Proteans strategic objectives. You'll have a blend of strong technical skills and outstanding leadership, enabling you to mentor, drive technical excellence, and ensure on-:me, high-quality delivery of projects. This role will report directly to the Head Engineering and will be responsible for the successful execution of the company's business mission through the development of cutting edge so6ware products and solutions. You will lead the team that builds large-scale systems executing business requirements with sub-second latencies. You will work with an amazing peer group that fuels this ambition. You will be responsible for managing 10-15 engineers. RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENTS Technical Leadership Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and architectural input to ensure so6ware solutions are robust, scalable, and maintainable. With hands-on experience, contribute technically at individual capacity, if the need arises Collaborate with the Head of Engineering on technology choices, best practices, and the team's development roadmap. Oversee the implementation of sound development methodologies and adherence to coding standards. Team Management Provide Technical leadership to Senior Software Engineers and So6ware Engineers, including task allocation, performance reviews, and professional development. Guide and mentor team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning. Project Delivery Work with Business Technologists to define and refine technical requirements, ensuring alignment with product vision. Establish realistic timelines and manage project execution to meet deadlines and quality standards. Proactively identify and resolve technical roadblocks and boTlenecks. Founders mentality and ownership to drive projects to completion Process Optimisations Streamline development processes, advocate for automation, and enhance engineering efficiency. Participate in Agile processes (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) contributing to sprint planning and managing retrospectives. EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS At least 12+ years of experience in application development, with 3+ years of leadership experience in a software product company / Fintech / Financial Industry Experience building E2E Applications right from the backend database to the persistent layer Primary Skillset You must be a be having extensive hands-on experience in the following: Data Structures Object Oriented Programming concepts Design Patterns Sound Technical expertise in one of the following backend technologies - Java Strong hand on experience with Java and OOPs concepts Spring, SpringBoot, SpringCloud or Micronaut - Node Expertise building NodeJS applications with frameworks available for it such as Express.js, NestJS, AdonisJS, MeteorJS Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds - - GoLang Expertise building GoLang based applications in multiple frameworks such as Fiber, Kit, Echo Good understanding of server-side templating languages such as EJS, Mustache, React JSX Expertise in building backend API based applications engineered for fault tolerance, high performance and resiliency in a Rest and Micro-Service environment Familiarity with Unix/Linux environment and tooling Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as HTML5, and CSS3 Knowledge of JavaScript, Web stacks, libraries, and frameworks will be plus One or more Relational like Oracle, PostgreSQL etc and NO-SQL databases like Couchbase, MongoDB etc. Strong understanding on any ORM frameworks - Hibernate, iBatis, Sequalize Experience working with source code control systems like Git One or more CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GOCD, CircleCI One or more Test automation tools like JUnit, Selenium, JMeter One of the cloud platforms (Preferable GCP) Container platforms like Docker and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes (Preferable) Messaging technologies like Kafka, RabbitMQ
