Senior Data Engineer- Power BI (Chennai)

Role Overview: We are looking for a Senior Power BI Developer with 3 to 5 years of experience to own the full analytics delivery lifecycle across our business units. Working directly with the Senior Specialist, Data Management, you will lead requirement gathering, prototype and iterate on dashboards, and drive solutions from concept through to production deployment and user adoption. This role sits at the intersection of business analysis and technical development requiring someone who can translate complex operational data into transparent, actionable insights for stakeholders at every level. Job Requirements: Requirement gathering - Document end-to-end Business Requirements Documents (BRD) as a formal output of each requirement gathering session, ensuring full traceability from stakeholder needs to delivered solution. Data Modelling & DAX - Design and build robust semantic models in Power BI Desktop, including star/snowflake schemas, calculated columns, and measures. - Author advanced DAX expressions for time-intelligence, dynamic filtering, variance analysis, and complex aggregations. - Optimise model performance via query folding, aggregations, and incremental refresh strategies. Data Transformation - Build and maintain clean, reusable Power Query (M) transformations to shape raw data from multiple sources including SQL databases, Dataverse, SharePoint, and flat files. - Apply data quality rules and transformation logic that align with the Data Management teams governance standards. Stakeholder Management & Training - Translate field and business requirements from Sales and Operations teams into functional, intuitive reporting features. - Conduct user training sessions and produce concise documentation to drive self-service adoption across the organisation. - Communicate technical constraints and design trade-offs clearly to non-technical audiences.
