About the role
As a UT Technician Operator at Qualships Engineering & IT Solutions Pvt Ltd, you will be responsible for performing high quality ultrasonic testing (UT) inspections to support the company s engineering, ship repair, and survey services. This role focuses on ensuring the integrity and safety of materials, welds, and structural components by detecting internal flaws and defects using ultrasonic technology. Your work will directly contribute to compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and company quality expectations. Key Responsibilities Operate and calibrate ultrasonic testing (UT) equipment according to procedures and work instructions to ensure accurate inspection results. Perform UT inspections on materials, welds, and structural components to detect internal flaws, discontinuities, and thickness variations. Record, interpret, and report inspection data accurately, maintaining detailed documentation for quality and traceability. Maintain and care for inspection tools and equipment, including routine checks and calibration Documentation. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and inspection standards throughout all ultrasonic testing tasks. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to communicate findings and support corrective actions or further evaluation. Requirements Bachelor s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Materials, Engineering, or related technical field; technical training in NDT/UT is preferred. Minimum 2 years experience in same position. Hands on experience with UT equipment setup, calibration, and inspection execution. Ability to record, interpret, and document inspection results accurately. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with digital inspection software and data logging tools. Prior experience in NDT or industrial inspection environments, especially related to structural or weld testing. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures precisely. Additional NDT certifications (e.g., PT, MT, or advanced UT methods) beyond basic UT Level I. Technical Skills Required Ultrasonic testing (UT) equipment operation, UT equipment setup and calibration, basic flaw detection and indication evaluation, inspection data recording and reporting, reading and interpreting test work instructions, attention to detail in inspection procedures, understanding of NDT standards and testing protocols.
