Senior Software Engineer - AI Engineering

Senior Software Engineer AI Engineering (Python & AWS) Company: Qvanto AI Location: Chennai (Hybrid) Experience: 58 Years Key Responsibilities Design and develop AI-powered features using LLMs, including prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, embeddings, and LLM-based evaluation. Build scalable Python backend services and REST APIs using FastAPI. Develop and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS (ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, CloudWatch, Bedrock). Implement production-grade AI guardrails such as retries, caching, rate limiting, timeout handling, and cost optimization. Work with AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, Kiro, etc.) in a spec-driven development workflow while ensuring thorough testing and validation. Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using pytest. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK or CloudFormation. Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and mentor junior engineers. Required Skills 5+ years of software development experience. 3+ years of hands-on Python development with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, async programming, and REST APIs. 3+ years of AWS experience including ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, IAM, Cognito, API Gateway, CloudWatch, and CDK/CloudFormation. Minimum 1 year of production experience with LLMs using AWS Bedrock, Anthropic, or OpenAI APIs. Strong understanding of prompt engineering, structured outputs, embeddings, RAG, and LLM evaluation. Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar. Good understanding of microservices, distributed systems, Docker, Git, and CI/CD. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Preferred Skills Experience with vector databases such as pgvector, Pinecone, Qdrant, or OpenSearch. Knowledge of agentic AI systems, tool calling, and orchestration frameworks. Experience with SageMaker, MLflow, or MLOps workflows. AWS Certification is a plus. Prior experience in SaaS or startup environments is preferred.
